"The entire HMRC backend could be rebuilt with £1k of Claude tokens" is a statement so completely disqualifying it hard to know where to start

It’s so funny that SQLite is genuinely faster than most traditional filesystems.

I wish there were more experimental operating systems using dbs for the backend. Not many people playing around in this space...

I always wait on the backend. Its just a ritual I do.

Very cool to see the combo of Leaflet for CMS / newsletter backend + custom rendering on dame's site…very atmospheric!
I'm blogging again!

Here's my 1st long-form post in months... it's about @attie.ai, @atproto.com, AI, & how they all relate. Took me a few weeks to write, so I'm late to the Attie discourse, but I think it's worth the wait.

You can sub to my new email newsletter too, powered by @leaflet.pub!

This is basically how Cloudflare Durable Objects (with the sqlite storage backend) works!

Boss implored me to use AI to help with backend processes like sorting emails (not sure why I can't use the default inbox features for that but whatever).

I begrudgingly agreed. Tried to open Copilot

Windows: "THIS FEATURE IS NOT ACCESSIBLE TO YOU"

Me: Never have I been so relieved to be denied.

Unlike Anthropic, OpenAI kept Git. Its new backend, Pando, cut push latency nearly 5x and serves close to a petabyte of Git data a day.
OpenAI built itself a new Git backend, too

PHP is for making a website with a backend. I mostly make static sites that don't need a dedicated backend.

Never had a backend potato.

okay but it rocks that he almost certainly gave up the backend in the hopes of a not damning portrayal of him

so it doesn’t actually matter for the result* if there is disruption at a few dozen or even a few hundred

(3) the good guys disproportionally voted for early/by mail, so chaos at E Day voting might not even net them votes

*it Matters ontologically but we can fix that on the backend by winning

I would use booklinker but they changed everything on the backend and now I can't generate links anymore for some reason

Real women learn backend code by creating a little Node/SQLite app running on their own lil vps for rsvps and email invites for their cute little event invite websites they make.
