I reject any writing advice that comes in the form of "Don't do this thing! It's bad!" If you have actual good advice, frame it as a good thing I can implement. That way I have more tools in my box, not fewer.

Make it clear that you've fallen in love with your protagonist. Keep fudging the plot to make the planets align for your protagonist, at the expense of willing suspension of disbelief.

My favorite editing trick is accidentally deleting what I was writing on my phone with no way to recover it. My brain cuts out all the extra words in a scramble to remember and it ends up being much more streamlined and coherent when I type it out a second time.
