Daily 60s read. A Badoon advance ship invisibly observes Earth. It sends an invisible monster to hunt SS. The battle looks like SS is attacking the city. The military strikes and SS places himself in front of the ship so the Badoon think their invisibility is useless when Eath missiles hit and flee.

I grew up reading the X-Men vs the Badoon, the Shi’ar, the Sidri, the Brood, and the Technarchy but I never thought of it as scifi until I heard it described as such in an early 2000’s article. In retrospect, it’s quite obvious. But Claremont balanced it so well with superheroes, magic, and romance.
My biggest takeaway so far working through the Claremont run is that if you are familiar with the X-Men via other media properties like the movies, the old animated series, various video games etc, you are not prepared for the level of space opera derangement it contains.
I love that whenever the Shi'ar show up Jean Grey is like "oh, Jesus Christ!"
