6/n #BalticTour Warsaw-Vilnius stage. Change train at Mockava border station in the middle of nowhere as Lithuania mainly uses broad railway gauge 1520mm (based on Russian) compared to standard 1435mm European gauge.

15/n So today was meant to be the culmination of the #BalticTour : Hamburg to Brussels via Cologne. At the last minute message arrives that connection at Koln is cancelled. No reason given. Now on the way there trying to make a reservation (obligatory) on alternative service. #FuckDeutscheBahn
So the @eesc.bsky.social former members association will be holding its annual mission & seminar in Turku, Finland. Jan and I will be going there and back by train and boat (and maybe a bus): a Baltic Tour over the next month covering every adjacent country (apart from Russia ofc).🧵(I hope) 1/n

Great visits on our #BalticTour around Turku today: at the Regional Council of South West Finland; the Raisio food group HQ; and the yard building the largest ship in the world: Hero of the Sea, one of at least 6 cruise ships for US company. Thanks to Finnish colleagues for organising
