Chetona '71 (#Bengali: চেতনা '৭১ ; #English: Consciousness '71) is a sculpture commemorating the #BangladeshLiberationWar, located at #ShahjalalUniversityOfScienceAndTechnology (SUST). It is the first Liberation War monument in the #GreaterSylhetRegion.

#Nationalist conflicts have created far too many genocidal atrocities. On #ThisDayInHistory in 1971, during the #BangladeshLiberationWar, #Pakistan's army committed the #BurungaMassacre — the killing of at least 71 Hindus from #Burunga and nearby villages in eastern #Bangladesh.

The #JathibhangaMassacre was #ThisDayInHistory in 1971, during the #BangladeshGenocide that started on 25 March that year. The army of #Pakistan and allied #Razakar irregulars killed up to 5,000 civilian #Bengali #Hindu refugees fleeing the #BangladeshLiberationWar toward India.
