#BankShots
There's a couple of very low-percentage bankshots between now and a draft. Please.

A US judge in Mass. has broadened his injunction to bar cheating. He'd barred DHS from removing aliens to countries not designated in their removal orders without due process. Govt removed several anyway through bankshots: 1st to Guantanamo, where nonparty DOD took custody, and then to 3d country.

When Democratic leaders say Republicans will be reasonable and go along with Dems’ common sense proposals, that’s not because they expect the GOP to, but because they’re setting up “Republicans are the unreasonable ones.”

Though it’s an open question if bankshots like that fit the political moment.
Schumer on DHS reforms: "I believe Republicans will have no choice but to go along with us because it's so common sense"

Why on earth would you want to subsidize car ownership even more? We already do too much. If you want to alleviate poverty, give people money, don't do weird bankshots to make it cheaper to live in hellish car dependent exurbia.

"Bankshots" is some incredibly apt wordsmithing here. Thanks for this update, Mr. Parloff.

Seeking thrills and adventure I'm trying really long bankshots instead of hook shots but it doesn't have the same it factor

The Dame deal was questionable enough on its own merits without worrying about bankshots.

Super Paper Petey Piranha Land 2: Six Golden Slim Bankshots is NOT a real game STOP DMing me about it >:(

The war was built on transparent lies, so much easier to support by bankshots, so clever!
In the runup to the Iraq war, there were a group of people in The Discourse who weren't really supporters of the war, but they spent all their efforts Opposing the Opposers. These are morally repellent people who also imagine their toddler-level cleverness is supposed to fool you.

*bankshots the other team's Iron Man out of the sky then clears out the rest of the team with a squirrel stampede*

still got it, baby

Some general things I keep in mind:

Your questions matter way less than the answers. You’re shooting bankshots.

People are there to hear the other person. Stay humble.

Pace is everything. Make sure shit is MOVING. Speed up or slow down as appropriate.

Bankshots are lost fr and they are so satisfying

So many angles for bankshots of improvement, so many niches and caverns to build alternatives as the dinosaurs make their death groans of extinction on the surface. I don't know if we are the mammals, the bacteria in the deep-sea vents, or some other species, but r/evolution happens.

Doesn’t feel any need to get in touch with America’s volk and no benefit for them in publishing pseudo-clever ideological bankshots
USA Today remains one of America's most widely read and accessed newspapers. They're entire business model is milquetoast accessibility and being EVERYWHERE. I find it fascinating that they're the ones running opinion pieces like this. www.usatoday.com/story/opinio...
Trump is 78 and barely coherent. Where's everyone who questioned Biden's age and fitness?
A 78-year-old Trump rants nonsensically, demonstrating an inability to hold a thought, and it's deemed 'a jumbled answer'? C'mon. The man is unfit.

You mean that isn't what we really want? Less threes and more bankshots?

Three-way tie between the Pathfinder sniper with a magical volkite arquebus, the Pathfinder flamethrower playtest inventor that stacked 500 panic effects on it, or the Lancer Sunzi pilot that did railcoin bankshots off of a hole in blinkspace to comaterialize canister rounds inside enemy chassis.

But anything you propose is likely going to be harder than increasing our O&G exports (again, all big things are difficult!). In which case, it'd be real helpful to have the cash flow from oil to cover any shortfalls and maybe fund some of those bankshots & gambles.

yeah that's a good point

it's very hard to argue without a whole lot of bankshots that this is bad *for society*

I do think a reserve army of adjuncts has been bad for academia? But that would require a lot tighter data slicing to begin to show.

a lot of bankshots to get to that conclusion.

"we can't collect solar energy at night, let's redirect daytime sunlight."

why not just build solar where the daytime sunlight will fall, rather than blocking it?

and also, just, like, build more solar on both sides & store that energy!

“Data center activism is a bankshot. It can trigger a reset of the status quo, and has the potential to make a lasting impact on the digital future.”

Do bankshots reset the status quo?

why not a boxer’s clinch, or a rope break, or icing the kicker, or an intentional delay of game, or a time out

I think this is true though? Biden committed to appointing a Black woman to the Supreme Court, so at first the Garland appointment seemed like an inspired set of bankshots:

- Garland becomes AG
- KBJ fills his spot in DC circuit
- Breyer retires, KBJ elevated
- KBJ seat filled by Florence Pan

For what it is worth, I tried to use a light touch on the bankshots.

The Flak is a good time! I miss the razorjack, bankshots catching campers was loads of fun! I was a menace with the shock rifle's combo blasts x3

I am not even going to try to trace the mental bankshots that just led me here, but I am once again reminded of how good a Fine Young Cannibals biopic could potentially be
