The Bankstown Metro opened today, and so I went with my lovely girlfriend to ride the first train to Bankstown. We had breakfast with our friend Abigail, who had taken an overnight bus from Melbourne, and then we formed a group with some other women to collect all ten commemorative pins on the line.

Sydney Metro opens another extension of its wildly successful driverless rail system modelled on the Vancouver SkyTrain!
The Bankstown line extends 20km from downtown Sydney (same distance as Waterfront-New Westminster)
+ the existing Northwest line is 46km (longer than Waterfront-Langley City!)

The Bankstown railway line reopened today after a 2-year closure to convert the line for automated trains, as an extension of the Sydney Metro M1 line. It was fun to ride on the line again today and to see its upgraded stations.

To extend out to Liverpool, the line will dive underground at least 1-2 stations before Bankstown. Once this is done, the above ground station could be demolished and the land developed.
