I'm disappointed that the banzuke hensei kaigi (banzuke committee) elected to promote Oho, who was outstanding in January, to Sekiwake.
I was hoping they'd give the nod to Kirishima for his distinguished historical rank, but such is life in sumo.

The March Banzuke is out!

The Kyushu Banzuke was released. A few days ago, I posted this summary to give a bit more information about this all-important ranking sheet and explain what you see there. Here it is in Japanese, and English from the Sumo Association website. Leonid's banzuke prediction worked out pretty well. On my first glance, he got everything right down to Fujinokawa.

My partner made a very thoughtful b'day present for me this year - he ordered a January 2026 banzuke from Tatsunami beya.
I'm honoured to have my first paper-banzuke ever with Hosh as East Yokuzuna.
The thought that this banzuke has been folded by one of the Tatsunami rikishi makes me happy too ;)
