#OnThisDay 60 years ago - Barbara Knox (then Barbara Mullaney)made her debut as Rita Littlewood on #CoronationStreet. It was just a one off appearance at that point. She didn’t return to #Corrie again until 1972,but soon afterwards Rita became a regular character.

#BarbaraKnox (née Mullaney) makes her first appearance as Rita in #CoronationStreet. Originally an exotic dancer friend of Dennis Tanner, her first line, to Stan Ogden, is: "Got your eyeful?"
It's then 7 years until her next appearance in January 1972.
