BAGHDAD — As the issue of demographic change in areas inhabited by the Suraye (Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian) people in Iraq and the Nineveh Plain continues without any signs of a solution or government efforts to address it, despite condemnations and protests organized by the Suraye national parties in Nohadra (Duhok), Tel Keppe (Tel Keif) and elsewhere, the parties — the Beth Nahrain Patriotic Union (Huyodo d’Bethnahrin Athroyo, HBA), the Assyrian Democratic Movement (Zowaa) and the Assyrian Patriotic Party (Atranaya) — issued a letter and appeal to Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi titled, “Halting Demographic Change, Addressing Its Effects and Restoring Suraye Lands in the Nineveh Plain.”

ARBA'ILO, Kurdistan Region of Iraq — The Assyrian Democratic Movement (Zowaa) hosted a meeting of three Suraye (Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian) national parties on Sunday at its headquarters in Arba'ilo (Erbil), bringing together representatives of the Beth Nahrain Patriotic Union (Huyodo d’Bethnahrin Athroyo, HBA) and Assyrian Patriotic Party (Atranaya). The meeting focused on a range of national and political issues, as well as current political and security developments and their impact on Iraq and the Suraye people.

BARITLE, Iraq — Local media reported on Wednesday that 14 members of Brigade 30 were killed in the Baritle (Bartella) subdistrict, east of Mosul in Nineveh Plains, following airstrikes that reportedly targeted the area. Military aircraft continued to fly over the skies of Mosul as the situation unfolded. No official information has been released regarding the nature of the operation or the full extent of the damage.
