@mark-carney.bsky.social @avilewis.ca @naheednenshi.bsky.social if #BasicIncomeForAll can work in #Ireland , then it can definitely work in #Canada

Our Irish friends are proof that healthy, strong economies happen when you invest in people. #BasicIncomeNow
Ireland has shown that basic income works — not just socially, but economically.

Give people time and security to develop their skills, and the returns flow back to society. Now let's go further.

Prime Minister @mark-carney.bsky.social , since your government voted down the @ndp.ca proposition on the right to strike, the least you can do for Canadian workers and families is forward Bills C-253 and S-206 to enact #BasicIncomeNow

Exploitation of labour is not how we build #CanadaStrong
Canada already tested basic income. In the 1970s, Dauphin, Manitoba got a guaranteed income. People kept working, more teens finished high school, and hospital visits dropped. We have the evidence. What we need now is the political will.

@mark-carney.bsky.social @avilewis.ca @naheednenshi.bsky.social The results keep speaking for themselves, when will any of you gentlemen seriously consider #BasicIncomeNow and implement it as soon as possible? Basic Income is a great way to build #CanadaStrong today, tomorrow and hereafter.
Dr. Tyler Black highlights a truth proven by data:

"Every experiment on basic income shows it saves, not costs, extra money."

Paging @naheednenshi.bsky.social and @albertandp.ca - while the Alberta 2027 election may be a year away (or less, who knows?) This might be a good idea to sign on/sign up for! A strong Alberta is ensured by directly investing in Albertans! #BasicIncome4All #BasicIncomeNow #Alberta
Global BC Legislative Reporter and Saanich South candidate Richard Zussman has signed our Basic Income Pledge.

He's the first in his party to put it in writing: if elected, he will work toward a guaranteed basic income in BC.

Thank you, @richardzussman.bsky.social . Who's next?

@mark-carney.bsky.social sounds like a ringing endorsement to me, Prime Minister! By the way, have you had a moment to look over bills C-253 and S-206 yet?? #BasicIncomeNow
The Canadian Chamber of Commerce endorsed basic income, because it's good economics.

A similar policy would be quite popular in Alberta, what sayeth thou Mr. @naheednenshi.bsky.social and @albertandp.ca ??? #BasicIncome4All #BasicIncomeNow #BasicIncomeGuaranteed

If #BasicIncome existed, I would be able to afford to post paid #ads online. That might make it more effective for me to sell my #art. I could post paid ads now, but then I might not have the money to pay my mortgage if the #AdCampaign fails.

The work that makes money relies on the vast amount of work that doesn't. Basic income recognizes both, supporting the work such as that of care, creative work, research and study, and acting in the commons.
October 5, 2026 at 4:37 PM
It's commonly accepted that basic income would boost the economy, healthcare, and personal freedoms.

Pilot after pilot found the same pattern.

Basic income let people take risks leading to better jobs and training.

Working parents able to afford childcare could work toward promotions. Or drop multiple part-time jobs for one higher-paying full-time job.

The results, once again, speak for themselves. @mark-carney.bsky.social @avilewis.ca #BASICINCOMENOW
South Korea's UBI pilot shows major success 1 year.

Local businesses grew by 2,000 and rural population went up 4.7%. Most of the money was spent, causing "an increase in new businesses in essential services such as restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, and hair and beauty salons."
October 1, 2026 at 1:55 PM
"Canada is aggressively banking on AI to transform the economy... The reality almost certainly will include mass layoffs. UBI offers a dignified way through economic upheaval."

It's time for that conversation.

If it can work in Vancouver, then I'm sure it can work in Calgary. Don't you agree, Mayor @jeromyyyc.bsky.social ? #YYC #BasicIncomeNow
Researchers in Vancouver distributed $1M from 100+ donors to people experiencing homelessness.

The results were mindboggling.

21% higher wages
40% more nights in stable housing
85% more savings after 12 months

Direct cash works.

#BasicIncomeGuaranteed is working in Ireland. It's working South Korea, and is being set up to work in Scotland. It's time for Canada to be among them, let's enact #BasicIncomeNow to really build #CanadaStrong @mark-carney.bsky.social @avilewis.ca
Ireland's basic income for artists returned more than it cost, so they made it permanent.

Now Scotland and South Korea are following its lead.

Basic income already works for some -- let's build on it for all.

@mark-carney.bsky.social Prime Minister, there are currently two bills that can become laws to help Canadians with the cost of living and, at the same time, reinvigorate our economy. Bills C-253 and S-206 layout a plan for #BasicIncomeNow because Canadians need financial relief now.
Work delivers too little certainty for too many. As precarious employment becomes the 'new normal,' we need a new solution.

If insecurity is the 'new normal' for work, then basic income must be the 'new normal' for survival.
