An increasing demand for #batwalks; everyone in the batgroup needs to be on deck. People get especially surprised when they find out what the can see in an urban environment! A boy, about 8 yrs, was totally blown away, clinging to his detector, gazing into the sky & screaming "oh wow, wow... oh wow"

Usual mix of missed talks, bar conversations, karaoke, music, everyone showing off their projects and art pieces, lasers, fire, games, batwalks, 24v electric car racing, making new friends, finding old friends, etc. Even though there's 3500 people there, you can wander round and bump into people.

Well done! Batwalks are such a great way to engage people in bat conservation! It's always after it gets truly dark that people get SOOO surprised that the bats are flying over their heads! It's amazing how busy our night skies are - even in urban areas! #TheOldOne is a great story.

What sorts of detectors are most useful -
a) handheld for batwalks (like Magentas but both better and free) or
b) static recorders (like AudioMoth but maybe marginally better and free) or
c) USB microphones for use with iPhone, like Echo Meter Touch but (apart from Auto ID) better and free.
