Met some friends in Central Park today. There was a group doing yoga nearby and a curly headed blond toddler watching them started mimicking their positions. We clapped and the kid made a beeline for me, and we high fived. I’m not sure which of us was happier.

8 years ago, Dad and I went to choose a puppy, but the puppy chose us. While the other German shepherd puppies were mostly running around and chewing on one another’s ears, one little pup made a beeline straight for Dad and fell asleep, with his snout on Dad’s leg and one paw draped over his foot.
