Coverage of #BeijingSubway55 resumes shortly, including this terribly confusing set of line arrows… infernally close to one other…

And you get to wait for your train here at Ping’anli, #BeijingSubway55 Station 5/398, quite literally in style…
I will be back tomorrow (19.10.2024) with more tweets from other stations visited.
Please keep me going, thank you! 😃 buymeacoffee.com/davidfengtrains — thank you for your support!

Now headed onto the 4th train of the day… leaving Ping’anli on Line 19 headed north to Beitaipingzhuang.
Easily one of the most beautiful urban rail stations I have ever seen… #BeijingSubway55

ONLY Bluesky people get to see this… this is Ping’anli station (Line 19 part) leading to a station EXIT.
They want you to head out of the station still mesmerised by this kind of subterranean beauty.
What a great place for photo shots! #ChinaTravel by Subway, yes way! #BeijingSubway55 @ Ping’anli

The station art here is just one-of-a-kind…
Had too many pictures and clips to save and backup, so apologies it took a while.
Line 19 people, you are in for an artistic treat… #BeijingSubway55 @ Ping’anli

Station art in this part of Ping’anli station, officially opened in mid-2022, is beyond magnificent. Sooo much attention to detail and it is an underground Hutong garden in its own right. Line 19 bit is an artistic delight. #BeijingSubway55

Heading straight down into the Line 19 part of Ping’anli interchange. I’ll be back soon to complete the Lines 6/19 interchange, which include some of the most scenic views on the network. #BeijingSubway55
October 18, 2024 at 2:05 PM
The newest additions include three new access points for the Line 19 part, including Exit K here. They’re built in a way which blends themselves much more into the Hutong areas. #BeijingSubway55 @ Ping’anli

This is Exit F, which belongs to the Line 6 part of Ping’anli station. This was built in 2012. Unlike the Line 4 exits, which were nearly the same city-wide, designers took special care to build it in a style similar to traditional buildings in Central Beijing. #BeijingSubway55

A close-up of a Line 4 access point. This is Exit A at Ping’anli. This part of the station was built in 2009. #BeijingSubway55
October 18, 2024 at 1:57 PM
If you look closely, you can see the Line 4 access point to the right — and at the far left-hand side, the Line 6 access point. Quite a bit of difference in exit design here at Ping’anli. And we are just getting started here!… #BeijingSubway55
October 18, 2024 at 1:55 PM
Each line at Ping’anli has its own exits and designs them differently.
The Line 4 access points are almost the same city-wide (except Xiyuan, where they were forced to adopt to the surroundings).
Some say they look like turtle clamshells. Bit of an odd design. #BeijingSubway55

Amazing station art. Line 4 concourse, Ping’anli Subway station. Peking Opera! #BeijingSubway55
October 18, 2024 at 1:10 PM
The mosaic in the Line 4 part of the station don’t look much different to Beijing opera masks!
For a city centre interchange this station is really very artistic and full of cultural elements. What an amazing station. #BeijingSubway55 @ Ping’anli
PS: Will check out Line 4 platforms (below) later.

The interchange passageway from Line 6 to Line 4. We’re now headed into the earliest bits of Ping’anli station, readied in 2009. Note: police ID checks do sometimes take place here — I’ve had my passport checked (but it was a super quick “glance and go”). #BeijingSubway55
October 18, 2024 at 12:59 PM
The other one is this amazing work of art of a persimmon tree in the Hutongs as well. And as you’re on Bluesky, you get to see it in the form of a short video clip — as it rolls into view… #BeijingSubway55 @ Ping’anli
October 18, 2024 at 12:15 PM
Super-nice station art in the Line 6 part; they can be seen if you use stairs or escalators at the ends of the hall (not the two in the middle). Lovely trees and a traditional Beijing Hutong quadrangle. #BeijingSubway55 @ Ping’anli
October 18, 2024 at 12:12 PM
The Line 6 concourse looks like an underground house… #BeijingSubway55 @ Ping’anli

Safety publicity in the Beijing Subway…
1. Don’t use child leashes (it’s already illegal in our family; if we catch someone bringing it to our home they get a CNY 250'000.— penalty).
2. Don’t bring your own chairs into the Subway system. #BeijingSubway55 @ Ping’anli
October 18, 2024 at 12:01 PM
Station art in the Line 6 part. A lot of Old Beijing elements. Line 6 is full of these, rich in culture. Incredibly well done. #BeijingSubway55 @ Ping’anli
BTW: You guys on Bluesky get a REAL VIDEO! Those being Musked have to “make do” with a dead, still picture…
October 18, 2024 at 11:56 AM
The Line 6 part of the station dates from 2012 and was previously the newest part — that honour now belongs to the all-new Line 19. All three lines here use island platforms. #BeijingSubway55 @ Ping’anli
October 18, 2024 at 11:53 AM
Ping’anli Subway station is huge — and built piecemeal, with one line tacked to another (or it could be Line 6 linking two separately-routed north-south lines). There is an eventual option here to host Line 3 if it doesn’t go via Forbidden City North. #BeijingSubway55

3rd train of the day took me to Ping’anli 平安里 and a lot of arrows. This is a Lines 4, 6, and 19 three-line interchange. Unlike People’s Square in Shanghai, it’s not next to government or huge parks — instead, it’s all hutongs. #BeijingSubway55 Station 4/398
October 18, 2024 at 11:27 AM
Vertrek… next port of call will be Ping’anli. It will be quite an interesting station — three lines, three different station designs… #BeijingSubway55 @ Baishiqiao South
October 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM
But before I’m off… that is some RANDOM station art in the Line 6 part of Baishiqiao South interchange station… #BeijingSubway55
