Editor: My car very adamantly died while waiting for a long train a few car lengths up the hill from the lights at Benchlands and Bow Valley Trail. AMA reached out to Standish Towing – who told me it would be two to two and a half hours before they could come and tow my vehicle. That was distressing, The battery was so very dead that I did not even power the flashers. Well, first a young woman stopped and tried to find a safety vest in her vehicle for me to wear to direct traffic around my car. And then, two fine fellows stopped at the same time: One got my car out of “park” and then they stopped traffic, pushed my vehicle onto the boulevard and we managed to start my car. With a bit of anxiety that it would die en route, I made my way to S&S Auto, which had already responded to my call with a “bring it in.” One of the men who assisted me followed me there to make sure I arrived at my destination. I left my car at S&S and took the local bus to go to my meeting, rescheduled from earlier in the morning. S&S investigated, discovered that the battery in my car was unwilling to be “undead” (seven years old?) and I returned on the bus to retrieve my vehicle. Everyone mentioned above deserves massive accolades. Thank you. Ultimately, a darned good day, in spite of a very dead car battery. This community is full of kind and helpful people.
