#1: AntonBlast

To say this game met my expectations would be an understatement.
While not without its hiccups here and there, AntonBlast is one of the most *excellently* crafted platformers I've ever played, with never a dull moment. Summitsphere's genuinely made a masterpiece here.

I may not be doing videos anymore, but I still wanted to do something like this, and since I'm fairly certain I'm not gonna have time to play through any more new 2024 games before year's end, I felt I could do this now.

Time to list my Favourite Games of 2024, post-YouTuber edition!

#8: Frogun Encore

Talk about a glow-up! This game does a great job of taking everything that made the original Frogun good while cutting a lot of its issues, while also making Renata even more fun to control! A couple technical issues aside, this is overall a super solid sequel.

#2: Sonic X Shadow Generations

LET. SONIC TEAM. COOK!!
Shadow Generations is the best Sonic game experience I've had in *years*. Boost-style gameplay's never played better, the Doom powers are fun to mess with, and the story is excellently done (especially with a very specific boss).

#9: Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore

The fact that a spiritual successor to the Zelda CDi games exists is still wild to me, let alone that it actually ended up pretty good! I also respect that they didn't just go "lol CDi amiright" for it all and instead told a genuine story with this.

#6: Marvel Rivals

On one hand, the PC version of this *really* needs some better optimization.
On the other hand, this has been a blast to play with friends so far, and definitely fills that hole left from quitting Overwatch years ago.
(To anyone curious, I'm a Cloak & Dagger main)

#5: Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom

Bet most of ya saw this one coming.
This is one of the most outlandish and mechanically unique 3D platformers I've ever played, and outside of a couple irritating levels, it was a delight to play through. I really hope this gets a Switch port at some point.

#4: Super Mario Party Jamboree

This earns its spot for Rhythm Kitchen alone.
Also this is easily the most fun Mario Party game we've had in a long time, with a nice variety of boards, minigames and modes. Haven't tried the online yet though, so I'll see how that goes eventually. XD

#3: Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble

Super Monkey Ball is finally back. 🥲
The online multiplayer mode is kinda eh, but the main game is *fantastic*, and whoever decided to add co-op to the main game was both a genius and a madman. Had a blast playing through this with my siblings.

To start, I'm gonna share a few Honourable Mentions, the first of which being:

Victory Heat Rally!
While it has a very uneven difficulty curve and I'm not huge on some of its art direction choices, this is still a fun arcade racer with a good sense of control and speed.

#7: Aero GPX

I know this is still in Early Access, but I couldn't resist including it. Aero GPX captures that F-Zero feel *incredibly* well, while also adding its own mechanics and flair to still make it feel like its own thing. Very much looking forward to seeing where this goes!

Following that, we have:

Project Shoreline!
This feels like someone took Mario Sunshine's graffiti-cleaning mechanics and made a whole game out of it.
It takes less than two hours to 100%, but for that time, it's a pretty satisfying game. And hey, it's free, so I ain't complaining.

Next Honourable Mention, we've got:

Webfishing!
This one not making the list mainly comes down to only having played a couple hours of it, but I did quite enjoy those couple hours. It's a pretty relaxing game that felt like the kind of online game you'd find back in the mid-2000s.

Next up, my favourite pre-2024 game that I played for the first time in 2024, which would be:

Super Mario RPG!
The remake was my first time playing Mario RPG in general, and I totally get why this game's so beloved now. Even in its simplicity, it's engaging and charming throughout.

#10: Content Warning

While perhaps a bit light on content, I had a blast playing this with my siblings, whether that be goofing around in the hub area, or trying (and usually failing) to survive with usable video footage. You can bet there was much screaming and laughing throughout.

Now, for the annual Official GOTY Post-Launch Candidate award, which this year goes to:

Super Kiwi 64: Doomsday!
This does a great job with making Super Kiwi 64 feel more complete, with time trials for the main game and a 2nd story that ties nicely into past Siactro games.

And lastly, one more shout-out to make, the honourary "Game I Fell in Love With in 2024" award:

Stardew Valley!
I played it a little bit back when it came out, but I played it in co-op with my siblings a whole bunch this year, and yeah, it's one of my absolute favourite games now.
