G'raha and A'rukay walk down the docks in Old Sharlayan. G'raha: I must return to the Annex. No doubt Krile has gotten herself in over her head looking through old tomes in my absence. G'raha smiles up at A'rukay. G'raha: They will call on you again once preparations to return to the Void are complete. You should take this opportunity to rest. Camera moves behind the two of them as they walk into the city. A'rukay: As should you, my friend, for your own endeavor. G'raha: Ah, of course. I will do my best not to overwork myself. In the next frame, A'rukay arrives at the Studium to pick up A'rhet from classes. Tataru is standing next to him, waving. A'rhet, excited: Rukay! You're back! Tataru: Wonderful to see you again! A'rhet hugs A'rukay, beaming up at him. A'rukay wraps an arm around his shoulders and looks down to address Tataru with a smile. A'rukay: Well, this is a surprise. What brings you to Sharlayan? Tataru smiles up at A'rukay. Tataru: I have a surprise for you. A gift, in fact! A gorgeous, exclusive and above all, properly registered... Tataru: ...island sanctuary! A'rukay's eyes go wide.

Two students are sitting at a table at the Last Stand in Sharlayan. A red-headed Hyur has a book in front of her and she is eating a slice of Archon loaf. The Elezen across the table from her reaches an arm out conversationally. Elezen Student: Were you able to finish the assignment on aetherical theory? Hyur Student: For Professor Juliembert's class? Nay, I'm afraid not. Elezen Student: A pity, I was hoping to get answers from you. A barista sets two coffee mugs in front of the students from off screen. Only their arms are visible. The two students look up at them with grateful smiles. Last Stand Barista: I apologize for the wait. Is there anything else I may get for either of you? Elezen Student: I believe we are good. Thank you very much. Last Stand Barista: Please do not hesitate to call on me should anything spring to mind. The Hyur student looks up at the barista with a smile and a risen brow. Hyur Student: Has anyone ever told you that you bear a striking resemblence to that "Hero of Eorzea"? The frame turns to show the barista, revealing them to be A'rukay in a light blue apron and long, white hair tied back into a pony tail. He smiles softly. A'rukay Tia: Once or twice. Elezen Student: You know what they look like? Hyur Student: There is a portrait in one of my text books. A'rukay turns away from the table. Elezen Student: I wonder what they're up to now... Hyur Student, shrugging: Who knows. A'rukay Tia: Enjoy your tea. In a different scene, Selaine and A'rhet are in the Lionnellais estate, staring down at a red carbuncle silently. Selaine: ... A'rhet: ... Selaine puts her hands on her hips and peers down at the summoned creature. Selaine: It's not doing anything. A'rhet: Is the diagram wrong? Selaine: Unlikely.

In the clinic Valjan is staying at, both him and A'rhet are sitting on his bed playing Triple Triad. There is a soft smile on his face. A'rhet stares at his cards intensely. By the wall of the clinic Valjan is staying at, Valjan attempts the same trick he tried on Ehbu'to and Eminne at the party. Valjan stands with his hands togethers and his fingers interlaced. A'rukay mirrors him, looking confused. Valjan releases his fingers from one hand. A'rukay does the same, which makes Valjan smirk impishly. A'rukay still looks confused. Valjan grabs A'rukay's fist, interlacing his fingers with his with a devious look. He tries to lift A'rukay's arms over his head, but they don't budge. Valjan's eyes go wide and A'rukay glances up at him, still confused. Valjan: ?? Valjan grabs A'rukay's hands with the other hand and attempts to pull A'rukay's arms up with both hands. His face shows the effort he's putting in to it, but A'rukay's arms still do not budge. A'rukay raises a brow. Valjan: *with effort* Hnnngghh.... Valjan lowers A'rukay's hands and looks at him with big sheepish eyes and a smile. Valjan: You are supposed to... put your arms above your head, Ru. A'rukay: I fail to understand when this "trick" comes into play.

Valjan and Estinien stand inside a cave outside of Garlemald, watching the blizzard raging outside. Valjan rubs his hands together and looks at the blizzard with a displeasured expression. Estinien has his arms crossed and looks stoic. Valjan: I don't miss this cold. Estinien turns his head to look at Valjan. Estinien: Do you know the Warrior of Light? Valjan turns to look at Estinien. Estinien: Or were you some passing good samaritan? Valjan looks down with a smirk. Valjan: Hmm. Neither. He merely saved my life once. Estinien turns away, unsatisfied with the answer. Estinien: Hmph. 'Tis a story I have heard countless times before. Estinien looks back to Valjan with a skeptical look. Estinien: Yet very few have ever directly intervened. Imagine my surprise when suddenly a scythe-wielding stranger arrives moments before I could and places himself in between the Warrior of Light and Zenos. Valjan smiles and shrugs his shoulders. Valjan: To be honest, I had no idea Zenos was even there.

Valjan stands on a Yanxian merchant boat on the open sea. The sunset shines over the water. Time passes. The next scene shows Valjan in Ul'dah, bettering over Triple Triad games. Valjan: And I win again! Pay up. The people he's playing with give him nasty looks. Valjan finds himself at the Arrzaneth Ossuary. He's greeted by a cloaked Lalafell. Mamane: Have you come to pray to Nald'thal? Or to make a donation? Valjan: Close. Where's the restroom? The next scene cuts to Valjan laying over the counter at the Quicksand with a mug in his hand, drunk. He makes his plea to Momodi. Valjan: The church kicked me out. Now, Valjan is in an alleyway with his back against the wall. A member of the Brass Blade leans over him as Valjan cups his chin between his thumb and pointer finger. Valjan: Why don't we take this back to your place? The scene cuts to an alleyway in Ul'dah. The streets are illuminated by streetlights.

A Raen woman and a Lalafell white mage stand in the House of the Fierce, waiting for A'rukay to return. When he arrives, the Lalafell, Lolona Lona, waves to him. Lolona Lona: A'rukay, you're back! How did it fare with Yugiri? A'rukay Tia, disappointed: It could have gone better. A'rukay: Is the Imperial still here? Shion, the Raen: We are holding him, though not many want to sit and stand watch. Lolona: He's not said much, but he appears to be... carefully watching everyone, perhaps studying... Lolona spaces off, hands on her face as her eyes stare wide into the distance. Lolona: With those... deep... ruby eyes... A'rukay, snapping her out of it: Lolona. Lolona, sheepishly: Oh! Right, right... Sorry. He's right this way, A'rukay.
