I’m working on a AD&D retroclone named Bhakashal. I have completed the Bhakashal Spell Book, a tome with more than 400 new spells, designed for the setting and compatible with any old school fantasy TTRPG.

More art with a Bhakashal vibe.

Bhakashal has warlock towers and warriors who don’t look like tin cans.

Gotta like that sweet bucket hat on the guy climbing up the tower

I thought it would be fun listing off a consecutive series of campaign journals from the blog to give an idea of what extended play is like in Bhakashal. Follow my Wednesday group through 8 play reports.

Everything you read came out of Bhakashal rules and setting conceits

Bhakashal has a combat critical mechanic, I discuss its implementation and playtesting here:

TLDR - Bhakashal criticals increase engagement and tactical play

One of the advantages Bhakashal has over many other TTRPGs is extensive playtesting. My after school D&D program gives me the opportunity to try out every step of the design.

Case in point, in Bhakashal, when you reach 7th level and above, you can try to join Bhakashal nobility

Chris Achilleos draws the perfect Bhakashal mercenary.

Achilleos is a beast.

All of the playable group illustrations for Bhakashal are done. Ferran has put them on one page, all to scale by height.

It’s gorgeous

Hire real people, get amazing art.

Bhakashal is a tropical setting, so warriors wear less armor than their D&D counterparts

The armor rules in Bhakashal support warriors with less coverage by giving them compensating speed bonuses, and beefing up the shield rules

Add an initiative system that rewards speed, and combat is fierce

Prepped a new exotic magic merchant for tomorrow's game. I'm using the "stink bug" by @rexbrews.world's magical bugs (available on his Patreon). Also, I'm using a scroll of "Swampwater" and a scroll of "Morshoggol’s Magnificent
Mount" from @blackdragoncan.bsky.social (link below).

OK, I need some design advice.

I’m making a AD&D retroclone called Bhakashal.

I’ve finished the Bhakashal Setting Manual (essentially the Bhakashal DMG + Monster Manual).

It’s clocking in at approx 400 pages.

Bhakashal is a retroclone.

The Bhakashal monster tables integrate selections from the AD&D 1e MM, MM2 and FF, combined with new Bhakashal monsters.

Algoids are the perfect for the setting, obviously the creation of Warlocks, their immunity to fireballs and lightning is the tell.
