It's actually a thing! Sometimes it's easier to for bilingualish people to express themselves in their own preferred language than to stick to one.

certain ideas so far only ever came up in German conversations so I never thought about how to say them in english (and vice versa).

i ordered two cowboy tacos at taco deli. and the completely wrong thing came out. because instead of saying cowboy i said vaquero. also a cowboy but a completely different taco. funny bilingualish moment.

but that is all for nothing because going to taco deli is the most guero way to get tacos.

In bilingualish anxiety news, I was so flustered by a grocery store fuckup that I handled it in French without first overthinking my words. We're calling it a win!
