This is incredibly glib. Of course we need fertilizer, and you don't seem to be focusing on alternatives - biofertilizers, biopesticides etc. CCS does work at a €100/ton carbon price; but the issue is methane emissions if fracked gas is being used

For all these problems, the answer is hydrogen

Chemical pesticides threaten the health of farmworkers & rural communities in South Africa.

As researchers explore alternatives like RNAi sprays, environmental advocates highlight critical safety gaps, and call for safer, proven biopesticides to protect workers.

Anna Weekes reports for #Mongabay.
Farmworkers’ health matters: South Africa looks to alternatives for chemical pesticides
Insects like fall armyworm or mealybugs can decimate food and commercial crops; like their counterparts elsewhere in the world, South Africa’s small and large farmers alike use synthetic chemical…

5.8m is a huge seed round for agtech right now, but it makes sense given the r&d and field trial timelines for biopesticides. seeing a distinct shift where specialized vertical funds are stepping in to lead these larger non-saas seeds early.
