Today i forcefully evicted a white-winged chough from inside a birdnetting tunnel in my orchard. Pretty easy to catch in the birdnetting.
Only bird ive ever caught that, regardless of size, did not even think of pecking me (never handle a wild parrot barehanded!)
I even held it onehanded to lift

This one I had to hold facing me - in big sun hat and reflective sunglasses - and it was more terrified than any previous.
It put out a v loud SOS call and a few of its mob came to help 🙌

Yep, we will be out Monday, literally stocking up on stuff that will probably become unobtainable within their 3 years. Coach screws, WD40, glyphosate (yes I use it), hand-tools for the gardens, birdnetting, electric tooth brushes, a new calving rope.

Growing flowers alongside the strawberries was a great plan, until I realized I needed to figure out how to protect the berries from the birds...
I don't like using plastic birdnetting, I've had birds die getting tangled in it so I need another solution

I use wood ash to repel slugs/snails & as a fertilizer. I also use crushed eggshells for this too.

ok here's the answer: Fly #3 is the one that "matched the hatch". The hatch in question: slow-sinking EWOS salmon feed pellets (size XL) 😈
