So after a birdstrike on our plane climbing out of Rome yesterday, I ended spending a grand total of 12 hours in Fiumicino aiport. @aerlingus.bsky.social were great - kept us up-to-date, sent ample vouchers & even flew a “rescue” aircraft down there to take us back to Dublin. Thank you.

we need to re-populate the birds so much more than we already have, because the most obvious way to solve the "birdstrike takes down commercial aircraft" problem would simply to use a ramjet fueled on birds and fly around like a big whale. but we don't have nearly the density yet.
