Here she is, my finished golden eagle wool painting, still needs to be fully pressed and framed but I had to wait to finish her for the sizing.

Once framed, she will be on display and for sale on my stand in the Puffin Marquee at Global Birdfair.

1/3 We’ve taken the difficult decision to not return to Global Birdfair as an exhibitor. While we recognise that Birdfair provides an opportunity to meet with members and volunteers, our continued investment in other ways to engage with supporters is proving to be a more effective use of resources.

Please stop supporting tourism to the Antarctic through the Birdfair or magazine adverts.

It’s madness.
"Antarctic tourism is growing fast, with over 120,000 visits in 2025-26 and up to 450,000 expected each summer within a decade.
...
bringing more and more people to an ecologically vulnerable area, and helping cause some of the greatest CO₂ emissions of any form of tourism."

JUST DON'T

Birders, why not follow the science this year and give Birdfair a miss?

That’s not a rhetorical question either…

?🤷‍♂️
2/3 With its emphasis on high carbon wildlife tourism, today’s Birdfair has a different focus from earlier years. BTO work has highlighted the impacts of climate change on birds, and because of our commitment to working sustainably, we no longer feel it is appropriate to take a stand at the event.

'Birdfair remains stagnated in a vision of the world that may have made sense in 1989. But the longer it denies the need to change the more it will struggle to dispel the growing perception that today it has become a reputational risk.'

Just astonishing that people are still going along and supporting this circus in its current form.
#BirdFair
Maybe future #birdfair should focus on addressing the climate crisis & the devastation it will bring?

No Antarctic tours, much less consumerism & consumption, more education & campaigning on emissions reduction, more for families, plant-based catering etc?

The world lost the climate gamble. Now it faces a dangerous new reality
The world bet on collective but voluntary action to keep global warming at a safe level.
