No Tropicbird for me off Gwennap Head/Land's End, but I did see two Bearded Tit at Marazion Marsh. Proper rare in the county, these represent a Cornwall tick for me! #ukbirding #birdingCornwall

The very showy Common Sandpiper at Coronation Boating Lake at Helston last week. Best views ever.

No rarities, but a really enjoyable few hours spent mooching around the Hayle estuary and Carnsew Basin in glorious sunshine. Two varieties of Godwit, Med Gulls galore, long-legged beasties, double figure Greenshank count and returning winter wildfowl #ukbirding #birdingCornwall

So often overshadowed by the far West and Scilly, East Cornwall does occasionally seize the birding limelight. Certainly, Siblyback Lake is punching above it's weight right now with Buff-breasted Sandpiper and a brace of Pectoral Sandpipers! #ukbirding #birdingCornwall

If last year's Wryneck at Turf Lock performed for the crowds, this week's bird at Colliford Reservoir was a classic skulker. A painstaking three-hour search in a cold north-west breeze eventually yielded a positive outcome. I do love a happy ending! #ukbirding #birdingCornwall

Not as busy as yesterday but great seabirds, spectacular sky and lively sea. At least 8000 auks and 1200 Kittiwakes through.

Here's a very average experimental video of last week's juvenile Buff-breasted Sandpiper at Siblyback Lake. I never tire of watching these attractive nearctic wanderers when they reach our shores in August and September. Back to Cornwall tomorrow to search for more #ukbirding #birdingCornwall

One of the perks of any visit to Cornwall is the ready accessibility to wintering Great Northern Divers, especially along the south coast. Three seen outside Looe harbour at the weekend. Would love to find one on the Severnside patch, now I'm back home #ukbirding #birdingCornwall

What a difference a day makes. Stunning scenery in the sunshine on the north Cornwall coast on Saturday, only for rain to reassert itself at Looe today. Great Northern Diver & Eider off Hannafore Point made braving the soggy murk worthwhile #ukbirding #birdingCornwall

Rather slow seawatch this afternoon but 3 Great Shearwater, 4 Sooty, 5 Bonxie and a lot of Manxie past Porthgwarra #birdingCornwall

When the rain finally stopped and the sun came out, I was able to enjoy a cracking 1st winter Yellow-legged Gull on the in-coming tide at Hannafore Point. Great views of a couple of adult Med Gulls and a superb Firecrest in the wooded corner as the sun dipped #ukbirding #birdingCornwall

78 Great Shearwater, 17 Cory’s Shearwater and 14 Sooty Shearwater past Porthgwarra 15:00-18:00 was a lovely way to spend the afternoon #UKbirding #birdingCornwall

Can’t really say it was quiet at Pendeen with 25,000 Manx Shearwater past in 1:30 hrs first thing, but otherwise 7 Stormie. Not a surprise little else considering the strong easterly breeze #birdingCornwall
