Green Sandpiper Stalking

These birds forage on shorelines, probing the mud with their long beaks. They're not too disilimar from Common Sandpipers, which are interestingly less common.

Young European Stonechat perched upon a branch.

We were looking out for Dartford Warblers, but then this cheeky bird popped up. A little far away, but it sat still nicely.

Juvenile Reed Bunting in the Reeds

Not as rare as the Bearded Tit, it's still not easy to find these in a reasonably easy situation to take a photo of. The light isn't quite perfect, but I still like it.

I've heard a Bearded Tit a few times, but hand seen one before, and certainly didn't have the change to take a photo. It's not thr greatest, so will need to try again.

Thousands of Oystercatchers taking flight.

From RSPB Snettisham's Spring Tide event a few weekends ago. Early start, but so worth seeing thousands and thousands of birds flying over the sea and land.

Kingfisher Caught Its Lunch

This lovely chap caught a fish right in front of us, after hovering for a while.

It seemed pleased with itself, and instead of flying away to feed it to its kids, it ate it.

A mother House Finch with its back toward the camera, sits on the rim of a Say's Phoebe nest, which it is now using as the previous occupant and its hatchlings had left several weeks before. Popping up from the center of the nest is a head with beak wide open, ready for its feeding. The nest sits under a porch roof and a top a stuccoed support column. The ceiling is white, the roof facing is a deep, purplish brown, and the column is an orange pink. The chick beak is yellow in color and has few feathers. The mother is looking toward the chick and head slightly lowered. Its feathers are primarily brown, with lighter stripes along the wings and towards its underside.

photos from the beginning and end of a session feeding the local feral pigeons. i am sitting on a six inch tall box with my legs extended. In the top photo "How it begins", there are at least a dozen pigeons on my lap and legs, one in each hand, one standing atop the end of my foot, while dozens more are under and around my legs eat seeds from the ground. In the bottom photo "How it ends", there is one pigeon in my lap eating from my hand, one standing on the end of my foot like a sentinel, and one under my legs eating seeds from the ground. ~WT7
