#Bitumin
do any beetle fans reading this know what Rhagopthalmidae / Rhagopthalmus actually means? I don't know if the original 1907 Olivier paper has been scanned, or if it even has the etymology.

naphtha could mean pitch / bitumin, or it could be thalamus which is bedroom / chamber.

OK! Add 25% to our bitumin (that's tar sands). That's one way to conserve and save the planet.
~Oh, boy! Here we go! A 25% TARIFF on ALL products

"On January 20th, as one of my many first Executive Orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States, and its ridiculous Open Borders"

If you drive mainly on bitumin, weekly under 500km, an EV will meet your needs.
The EV truck/freight options are growing too, so that off road market will get serviced.
Driving culture will shift, too *positive, as EV driving requires a shift in time expectations

What AB pols and their acolytes don't understand is that construction of NG will be met with strong opposition fm FNs and BC residents generally. Bitumin-laden tankers navigating the cold, narrow channels of the BC north coast is virtually a non-starter.

🇨🇦 #ETTD so, if #Trump likes it, avoid any investment in the project.
#Trump and #Putin are working to falsely inflate the value of #Bitumin because their power and investments will fail when this market drops to its true value. The future is in #Green, #Clean investments.

When the CEO of Enbridge suggests the future of bitumen is uncertain, & refuses to fund a new pipeline project, perhaps Pr ⁦‪Smith‬⁩ might take that as a hint future mkt for oilsands, is weak.

Trump & refining, really?

Every refinery produces a range of products going from Propane & Butane (gases), to motor spirit, gas oil, & kerosene (road fuels & heating oils) LFO/MFO/HFO (black oils) and bitumin.

No refinery simply produces gas oil (diesel for the morons out there. Diesel = Engine)

Do they even have any refineries in Ontario that can process tar sands bitumin.
I thought refineries had to be specifially built to process it.
It's not like you can flip a switch.

This supports the case to nationalize Postmedia and shut it down.

Also "For nearly a decade, the Liberal government has worked to demonize Alberta’s energy industry." ?!?

Right. This is why the federal gov't, led by PMJT, bought the TMX pipeline so AB could increase bitumin exports. FFS.

Aurinko kun oikein porottaa, niin ei ole. #ilmastonmuutos

"Työskentely kuuman bitumin kanssa aiheuttaa tapaturmavaaraa. Kuuma bitumi iholla aiheuttaa pahan palovamman. Bitumihuurut ovat voimakkaan hajuisia ja käryn muodostus lisääntyy voimakkaasti jos bitumin lämpötila on liian korkea."

'There is no B.C. coast. It's Canada's coast': Sask. premier supports Alta. pipeline proposal - CBC News

Stop it. Stop shipping bitumin to foreign refineries.

Build refineries here.

Bitumin yields minimal profit. Refine it here. Producing finished goods makes for greater value.

Yeah, I'm aware that they're oil based, and electric vehicles are heavier and so heavier tire wear and road wear and roads use bitumin from refined oils. Something like half of all sea cargo is just shipping fuel, burning oil to move it.

Hard to be pro-environment when the rest of the government is slashing standards and pushing fossil fuels for short-term gain. Bitumin...really? Makes statements regarding being carbon neutral by 2050 sound ridiculous.

Bitumin coated the asbestos, basically canceling out the fire resistance. Or at the very least allowing the fire to access the interior acrylic soundproof material.

Which burned like fuck.

Inside were roughly 3,000 visitors and staff.

The transition is also not all about energy, but also non-energy materials from fossil fuels — the many varieties of plastics, synthetic fibers, synthetic rubber (all three of which are used in today’s EVs); asphalt (bitumin), which pave the roads EVs run on; and nitrogenous fertilizers.

Smith calls Eby’s pipeline criticism ‘un-Canadian and unconstitutional’ - Globe and Mail

Smith! Forget the pipelines.

Build refineries. Be an energy super power.

Shipping bitumin to foreign refineries also ships the profits.

Profits can be gained by refining it here. Profitable finished goods.

This is a great explanation of how to defend #Canada from #Trump. It includes the notion that the existing #CarbonEconomy makes us vulnerable and suggests moving to manufacture products from #Bitumin instead of burning it. Also, a great insight into how electricity keeps us secure as a country.
*Secure* from a @realDonaldTrump invasion? No.

But there are plenty of US roadblocks to thwart Trump. And some options for #Canada if he tries to invade.

Like I honestly can't stress this enough: The People Who Rule Us Do Not Care If You Fucking Die.

Proceed accordingly.

And, no, not just Trump. Trump probably cares more than Carney. Trump at least has his network of cronies, but Carney only cares about methane and bitumin. YOU don't enter into it.

Tuossa ei erikseen mainita mutta kai siihen kehitykseen kuluu bitumin korvaaminen ligninillä? Sitä saa muuten puusta eli sellutehtaasta ja meiltä löytyy erotteluun vehkeet.

It was completed just in time for the 2nd oil crisis! So never turned on, although concepts to run it on Maui gas were made (Think Big used up all the gas) and also to liquify bitumin or coal were explored. It remained unused until sold to an Indian Telecom company in 2009 for $20m.
