Why? Beats the hell out of me. Probably the same reason he told everyone he had a blackbelt in Tae Kwon Do from a hereditary teacher. Or that he was half Egyptian but also related to Vlad. Which of course he was neither. Or would quote from esoteric books that didn't exist. Ego!

Shasta-Trinity National Forest plans prescribed fire near Mount Shasta, Weaverville
Redding, CA — The Shasta-Trinity National Forest is planning prescribed fire operations starting Monday, Nov. 2, 2026, and continuing into next week, as weather conditions allow and pending all required approvals. We use prescribed fires to reduce overgrown vegetation to help protect local communities, infrastructure and natural resources from wildfires. Prescribed fire operations include: Weaverville Community Forest Phase 1/Five-6 and EW 10 Units (83 acres). Operations will start on Monday. Highway 89 Underburn, 7 miles east of McCloud just North of State Route 89 and Ash Creek Station (2,000 acres). Operations will begin Tuesday and continue through Wednesday. Areas near these projects may close to the public for several days for public safety. Watch for warning signs along roads near all prescribed fire areas before and during burns. Residents may experience smoke during the prescribed burns. For more detailed information about air quality, go to AirNow online or download the app. When driving, slow down and turn on your headlights when you encounter smoke on the road. We will evaluate weather conditions in the hours before a burn begins. If conditions warrant, scheduled prescribed fire activities may be canceled. Stay informed about the scheduled prescribed fires through the forest website...

Also, if a kid takes puberty blockers, and transitions BEFORE PUBERTY, there is no need to discriminate against them. Your argument is valid for KAITLIN JENNER.

But my daughter became a blackbelt in High School in a class that included kids and grownups of all sexes.

'An Environmental Nightmare': Humboldt Looks to Put Teeth Into Illegal Dumping Penalties
Humboldt County is seeking to become better-armed in its battle against illegal dumping by increasing penalties. At its Oct. 27 meeting, the county’s Board of Supervisors discussed the impacts of illegal dumping and authorized changing county code to make punishment for it steeper. Brought forward by Supervisor Rex Bohn, increased penalty fees will cover clean-up and enforcement costs that now mostly “fall on taxpayers,” according to a written staff report. “There isn’t a district here that does not have a major dumping problem and vehicles are even more of a problem,” said Bohn. “Every time you see a trailer or motor home parked alongside the road dumped, you can guarantee that within five days, it is stuffed with trash because they’ve just found a place to dump their stuff and if we don’t address it, it becomes an environmental nightmare.” The agenda packet on the item includes a “model ordinance” in effect in Merced County, which penalizes dumpers $2,500 for a first offense, $5,000 for a second offense within a one-year period and $10,000 for a third annual offense. That goes beyond the $3,000 maximum penalty set by the state and is far more than the county’s current penalties of...

Protect Yourself and Your Loved Ones This Holiday Season with Vaccinations, Says CDPH
Respiratory Virus season is underway, and the time to get your respiratory virus vaccines is now, before the start of the holiday season and its shopping trips, parties and gatherings. Being vaccinated helps lower the risk of getting sick and prevents serious illnesses or complications. Everyone six months of age and older, especially those at high risk for severe illness, should receive the flu vaccine. In general, anyone looking for protection from COVID-19 can receive the COVID-19 vaccine, and CDPH recommends that individuals at higher risk for serious illness such as children 6-23 months, adults 65 years or older or those who are pregnant or planning pregnancy should get up to date on the current COVID-19 vaccine. Infants and toddlers, adults 75 years or older and people who are pregnant, should get the RSV vaccine. More specific recommendations for all three vaccines are available below. These vaccines are an important piece in preventing illnesses and are currently available at local healthcare providers throughout California. Additionally, they must be covered by health insurers in California. “As we head into the holiday season, one of the best gifts we can give ourselves and the people around us is the protection that vaccination...

Six Rivers National Forest Lifts Fire Restrictions
With recent precipitation, shorter days, and colder nights the Six Rivers National Forest [lifted] all fire restrictions, effective October 23, 2026. The lifting of these restrictions only applies to national forest lands on the Six Rivers National Forest. As a result, the following activities are now allowed with No Public Use Restrictions in place: Campfires in wilderness areas Dispersed campfires Personal chainsaw use is allowed at any time, subject to regulations, including a valid permit to cut firewood, which can now be obtained online Although fire danger has decreased, the lifting of fire restrictions does not mean fire season is over. Potential still exists for wildfires to start. Forest visitors must continue to act responsibly with anything that can start a fire. The lifting of fire restrictions on the Six Rivers National Forest is not related to residential burn permit suspensions. Residential burn permits in the vicinity of the Six Rivers National Forest are overseen primarily by CAL FIRE. Visitors and residents having a campfire outside of a developed recreation site still must have a valid California Campfire Permit and adhere to the rules stated on it. To get your free permit visit any open USDA Forest Service office or...
