#BlackShabbat
A woman in her 70s showed me the tiny Star of David hidden under her jersey.

The man with her said, "I stopped wearing mine."

@rabbisandra showed me a beauty in our shared traditon that I had known about, but hadn’t been ready to respond to until just then. Thanks for opening my heart to some things I had kept walled off in my head. I’m trying to stay open to them. 5/x

So for #BlackShabbat I’d like to thank some of my favorite Black Jewish teachers on Twitter. I think @KosherSoul first brought me to this corner of the Twitterverse, because I saw a recipe of his somewhere. His writing is gorgeous and sensual, but that wouldn’t matter 1/x

For #BlackShabbat, I want to thank the Black Jews I follow for teaching me about the intersections of Blackness and Judaism. And how those two identities enrich each other. I have nothing eloquent to say, but I thank you all for sharing yourselves on Twitter.
