Absolutely. This was originally set up to get the broader community following the #chemtwitter tag, people can sign on as either needing a code or having codes to share. The problem we're having is getting our #BlackInChem and also Latinx community members across.

I’ve been running a code swap for the Twitter chemistry community. It’s working OK but we’re still very low on our #BlackInChem folks

Is there a way to share bluesky codes with the Blackademics community or #BlackInSTEM and #BlackInChem?
November 13, 2023 at 4:35 PM
I emailed Black in Chem but they never replied to my email.

There are @blackinx.bsky.social @blackinmicro.bsky.social @blackinneuro.bsky.social - if they are collecting invite codes I would love to donate mine to them. Still hoping to hear from BlackInChem.

Chemsky - is there a way to donate BlueSky codes specifically to #BlackInChem folks? ⚗️🧪

Chemsky, I suggest you check out #BlackInChemWeek2023 on Twitter and get to know our fellow chemists in the #BlackInChem community. 🧪

Many of you may not know this is #BlackInChem Week, since you left Twitter. Looking through the #BlackInChemRollCall last night I saw a lot of folks missing from ChemSky.

If you haven't looked at Bluesky and realized how white it is, and you haven't wondered why... you may be part of the problem.
Hi ChemSky ... as we try to build a new community here a quick note.
I am not seeing any of our BlackInChem colleagues in the feeds yet (perhaps I've overlooked something). Additionally, I do see some prominent voices from the LatinXInChem community ... but there's still work to be done.

I am glad I am not the only one who has been thinking this.

I'm planning on asking BlackInChem if they want my next Bluesky invite - with the understanding that Bluesky hasn't been very hospitable to the Black community.
Bluesky is under fire for allowing usernames with racial slurs | TechCrunch (future)
It's the latest miss for Bluesky, which has already gotten backlash for being slow to respond to hate speech and threats.

Let us start telling 1st Gen #STEM students that— they CAN do better and DESERVE better. ✊🏾🥰
