Offered in the spirit of public service, if anyone wants to remove AI bloatware installed without your permission in Google Chrome
did this + some research

in URL: chrome://flags/
search "gemini nano" disable items found
search "on device" disable items found

in URL: chrome://settings/ai
turn off "history search" and "help me write"

this all fully disables the AI summary that generates when you google something! yay.
burying the lede, as usual. 🙄

"...remove the 4GB download another way: by changing a single Chrome setting. Just go to Settings > System, then toggle the “On-device AI” setting to Off."

Bloatware

basically, bloatware and massively ineffective operating system functions mean that since 2000, a computer has gone from needing maybe 128MiB of RAM to needing 32GiB of RAM for no serious increase in functionality.

...and only if you have turned off as much bloatware as possible.

I still think XP was better, anyway.

LibreOffice is a pretty good alternative to MS Office. It’s free, open source, no bloatware, and does most of the things Office does. You can import and read existing docs or save them to standard Office formats.

The duality of man

1) Techlash slopulism is cringe AF and I will ally with Big Tech when necessary.
2) FOSS software is way more based than legacy IP bloatware, and shifting the ecosystem to FOSS options is ideal.

Out of curiosity, I installed GrapheneOS on the Pixel I had before my current phone.

One of the reasons I swapped to a new phone was because the Pixel's battery was starting to drain fast.

Now on GrapheneOS (meaning, without any Google bloatware), guess what happened to the battery draining? 🙄

Strip the bloatware and ad-filled home screen from an Android or Google TV over Wi-Fi, with no root and a one-line restore.

I tried linux out for a few months back in 2025, went back to windows, hated how much bloatware and bullshit was on windows 11, then immediately switched back to Linux because I despised how limited i was on my own computer

alright, vista ultimate sp2 has been installed and set up the necessary drivers. i opted to do a clean install instead of using the vista business restore DVD that was intended for the T61, because the amount of lenovo bloatware that came on that thing was ridiculous
