Check out today’s episode about Elves and see why it is “Maybe the weirdest movie we’ve watched since Bloodbeat”

What about Bloodbeat? 😄

Bloodbeat has an amazing scene where Mr Wisconsin Man is lounging on his waterbed and sends his missus off to get his "orange drink" and she then makes him a glass of Tang. And we see her whole process. It's awesome.

Oh yeah I love movies from unusual locales (Bloodbeat is one of my favorite weird slashers), as they often have locals in the cast or accents/looks/locations you just don't see in more mainstream horrors.

Bloodbeat is fantastic. Some random guy in Wisconsin made a movie about a psychic woman, a samurai ghost, plaid and lots of hunting. It's absolutely brilliant and makes zero sense.

He later admitted he was taking a lot of mind altering drugs at the time. 😆

Those are fun, well at least Body Count is...I'm not sure if I've watched Bloodbeat. This was tedious 😅
July 6, 2026 at 2:01 AM
Body Count and Bloodbeat have the best endings. They're my Gold Standard.

Great list but I don't see Intruder on there! That's another classic IMO.

I also have a soft spot for some of the really weird/nonsensical ones like Bloodbeat and Body Count.

I’ve probably thought of the line “The flames sawed in the wind and the embers paled and deepened and paled and deepened like the bloodbeat of some living thing eviscerate upon the ground” every single time I’ve sat before a campfire for the past fifteen years

On March 18, 1983, the cult horror film Bloodbeat was released. A bizarre supernatural slasher where a girl gets possessed by a samurai spirit and goes on a bloody rampage during Christmas. Pure 80s weirdness! 🩸⚔️🎄

Oh cool! I like my episode on BLOOD TRACKS, BODY COUNT or BLOODBEAT, as they're all great good-bad movies. But my PHANTASM episode is the most popular or you might enjoy my episode on THE FOG, as it's another one people enjoyed.

I'd say anything after THE VIDEO DEAD, for better production.

Bloodbeat is just such a weird movie and hard to describe. And I don't just mean weird like David Lynch weird. It's just so oddly filmed and the whole thing is so utterly bizarre. It's fantastic.

Bloodbeat sounds like Nightdreams to me if that's the case. I mean as far as drugged up filmmakers are concerned, except Nightdreams' drug overload started with the writer, Jerry Stahl. And true, Sidaris definitely doesn't hide his intentions one bit.
February 8, 2026 at 12:41 AM
At least Andy Sidaris movies are honest about what they are...😆

Bloodbeat is just very strange, made by a director with no experience who was taking a lot of drugs when he made it. It's fantastic.

Jessica is very much like Messiah of Evil, tonally. It's a great movie.

You dump on Lifeforce, but you're into Hard Ticket To Hawaii? 🤣

Love all of Carpenter's 80s flicks. Highly underrated director. I'll have to seek out Bloodbeat and Let's Scare Jessica To Death. Been a long time since I saw Messiah Of Evil. Great film from what I remember.
February 8, 2026 at 12:23 AM
It's a little earlier but Messiah of Evil is fantastic, as is Let's Scare Jessica to Death.

Bloodbeat is just weird and brilliant.

Anything by Carpenter.

On a lighter note if you like guns and boobs, Hard Ticket to Hawaii is fantastic.

oh my god i loved Bloodbeat
January 20, 2026 at 6:45 AM
Yeah it's just baffling. I can understand when Boris Blobski makes his first and only movie and it's insane like this, as he doesn't know better. But this?

I swear Bloodbeat is a more competently made movie.

There are odd 80s slashers, and there is Bloodbeat. Psychic visions, murder, and possession by samurai??
