Wow hi everyone, welcome to Bluesquid I mean Bluesquid I mean
Here's a polished-up size comparison chart I made for #Squidtember! Pygmy squid to colossal squid, these guys have the range . . . 🧪🦑🐡

A rainbow of squid species on a black background. They are arranged in a size pyramid, with the two largest (Architeuthis and Mesonychoteuthis) on the bottom. Idioteuthis, Onykia, Dosidicus, and Taningia are in a row on top of them, then above that are Ommastrephes and Ancistrocheirus, then Grimalditeuthis and Octopoteuthis, then Histioteuthis and Magnapinna (whose arms reach all the way to the bottom of the pyramid), then Brachioteuthis and Sepioteuthis, and finally on top the pygmy squid Kodama.

An extremely adorably orange and brown pygmy squid. The best squid.

A blue and pink inkling (from Splatoon) in coloured pencils. Her eyes are green, her tongue is blue. Her tentacles are pinned up with black spikes. She's winking at the camera, sticking her tongue out with a smile.

Incredible. Magnapinna, that big-finned awkward-elbowed denizen of the deep, swept Squidder. But Sepioteuthis, the rainbow razzler-dazzler of the reefs, is our local Bluesquid winner! Congratulations to them both; all squid are #BestSquid and happy #Squidtember to all! 🦑🏆

Reef squid swept the poll on Squidder, but we have a little longer to vote here on Bluesquid...can we get some love for the deep-sea-dwelling, arm-dropping-like-a-lizard, bisexually-mating Octopus Squid???

Danna Staaf @dannastaaf.bsky.social · Sep 18

Shallow meets deep in this confrontation between the sunlit reef squid and the mysterious octopus squid . . .
