Quirk of the charts: if fans of one genre are all listening to something it'll top the charts even if nobody else is listening to it. Ella Langley is incredibly popular with Canadian country fans and her Ottawa Bluesfest performance was packed, but I've somehow never managed to hear her even once.

The Northern Rivers has enthusiastically embraced rooftop solar since it was invented. Now a locally established initiative is tackling the other end of the problem: what happens when the panels come down? ReSolve Global has established a dedicated renewable-resource recovery and solar panel collection facility at Tyagarah, next to the old Bluesfest site. The business was formed by Ben Pietzsch and Anthony Salera. Ben is also the founder of solar and battery installer ProSolar Australia, and has witnessed an explosion of waste recently. ‘The panels that are coming off roofs have often got 30-year warranties, and they’re coming off in eight to ten years,’ he told The Echo. Driven by the battery boom and the switch to electric vehicles, households are chasing ever more output from the same patch of roof — and the industry’s instinct is to bin the old gear. ‘It wants to sell new, new, new all the time, because that’s where the government money is,’ Ben explained. With commercial rebates now allowing rollouts of up to a megawatt, he expects a massive uptake of panels coming into the country, ‘probably more than we’ve ever seen’ – and, with it, a flood of hardware coming back down...

Bluesfest (Ottawa) shifted the schedule to put them on the main stage. The weird thing was that it was C&W night, so you had a big crowd wearing cowboy hats but others wearing polka dots.

I know it's not the right state but Tucson to Tahiti sounds great. Got to see him once late with his daughter. The typical Bluesfest audience chatter respectfully quieted down and just let him set the tone.

don't give them ideas, ottawa bluesfest would do it. one year i attended a night featuring The National and KISS back to back. chaos is practically their whole thing, no blues in sight.

She headlined a night at Ottawa Bluesfest this summer alongside Angine de Poitrine and DFA 1979. One of the more bizarre crowd mixes I’ve seen.

Years ago, coming home from work, I got off at the Western Brown Line stop, and Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials were playing outside the station. It was some sort of Bluesfest promotion. And it was really cool.

I used to, cannot for years. Enjoyed the pit. Did Bluesfest in Ottawa a bunch on times, Heavy MTL a couple times, Enjoy festivals. The German and Scandinavian ones are supposed to be nuts but a lot of music am not into. You mention Saskatchewan, I'm actually from Moose Jaw but now dwell in MB.
