Managed to catch this little fellow before he got back into the cover of the plants. Due to me having to aim focus and shoot fast it’s turned out to be a blurd rather than a bird 😜.

Day 22 of #Coverbirds!

Today’s coverbird is… blurry. Sure, I can ID lots of birds if they’re standing still out in the open in good light, but what about when they’re zipping by at warp speed? We need a guide for that 😂 (1/5) #birds

“Yikes! Did somebirdy say ‘Sharpie?’ “
Dark-eyed junco had its bathtime rudely interrupted by a flyby. Also kinda messed up my shot 🙄

I spent sone good hours out today practicing my manual settings on the Nikon. So frustrating to come home with so many blurds. Did log my 44th lifer since starting this in January. A Black and White Warbler. Few takes...my eyesight is bad, monopods suck, but Im having fun! #EKC #Birds #Ohio

I took a few hours moving to more manual focus shots this AM. Lots of "blurds", a new word I saw used today! Beautiful morning to be out...I did at least see the Indigo Bunting, but it sat for about 3 seconds and POOF! Gone!! #ECK #BirdPhotography #BirdOhio #Nature #Birds #Newbie

Sometimes birding is hard. Sometimes it's not. Hope you had a good 2025 and saw lots of birds and blurds. Good luck in 2026 and happy new year! 🪶

Bird photography tips, an oldie that is hopefully useful for spring migration right now.

Blurds are also part of the nature photog's journey that involves being outside, observing & creating a moment immortal ... 😎

One of many little birds which rarely stay in place more than a second, which challenges me to have faster reflexes. However I still have hundreds of pics of bare branches and “blurds”. The adorable little Ruby-crowned Kinglet (Corthylio calendula) which winters here in NC. #bird #birdphotography
