Possible solutions:

Limit deployment to 16 pieces on a 8x2 boardspace (Identical to Chess)

Limit deployment to 16 pieces maximum on a 8x3 boardspace

Limit deployment locations (Might not work with certain games, might be too much to keep track of, turns set-up into its own puzzle)

But what does a set up look like with just the chess pieces?

At the moment, the standard Chess deployment is 16 pieces in only a 2x8 boardspace, all valued at a total of 40 pawns.

The other limits are Forced King deployment, Queen forced next to the King, and two of each Knight tier piece.

Now, here's my issue: I don't think I playtested my limitations thoroughly enough.

currently, it's set at:

3x8 boardspace, for 24 total pieces
40 pawns of material.

I wanted the 3x8 boardspace, as I intend to integrate games like Checkers and Shogi, which use that space.

The 8x3 boardspace gives you a hard limit of 24 pieces maximum.

The final piece of this puzzle is the Piece Values.

I intend to base them off of Chess's values, which measures value in Pawns.
1 Pawn = 1 Pawn
1 Knight or 1 Bishop = 3 Pawns
1 Rook = 5 Pawns
1 Queen = 9 Pawns

If only we'd had the boardspace for that!

Aside from being ep 200 and an awesome milestone, this episode was such a dope technical challenge.

Every live EDH production rig is built for 4 quadrants so adding a 5th boardspace makes for a need to get creative in the multicam. This multicam is actually 5025x2160 so it can shift seamlessly!
