Periodic reminder that over 90% of cats are not a "breed". The vast majority of longhaired tabbies are not Maine Coons. Most grey cats are not Russian Blues. Most black cats are not Bombays. They're just lovely, perfect mixed breed cats that come in all colors and coat lengths!

We adopted two cats, they were rescues and just listed as "domestic short hair" on their paperwork but from their appearance and everything I've read I believe they are Bombays too

First saw this in a NZ Herald headline that said Auckland shops, and wondered why The Greens would be introducing a policy like this just for Auckland. Answer is, they’re not. WTF Herald, there is life south of the Bombays, and these problems exist well beyond Auckland.

Sure, you've heard of Beef Wellington, but have you ever had a Beef Auckland? It's a small, self-important sausage roll that you'll find right up your tailpipe while driving south on SH1 over the Bombays, and no matter how thoroughly you cook it, it *will* share offensive jokes about Samoans.
And a corndog is a beef wellington from a different socioeconomic background

Your phone cannot tell you if your cat is a certain breed. My phone thought Fergus and Francie were a shih tzu. If you got your cat from a shelter or picked it up as a stray it is OVERWHELMINGLY likely that you have a standard mixed breed cat and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Bombays are part American shorthair and part Burmese. They're very smart, strongwilled, affectionate, and are black with big eyes.
