I have been trying to organise the best way to get all the kittens vetted and desexed. Hobart Community is the least expensive, but can't see them until Feb. I've applied to Bonorong Cat Fix, but I also know their spaces are limited and I'm not a rescue.

Had a great time at Bonorong Animal Sanctuary. Check it out when you're in Tassie to visit MONA as I already told you to do.

Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary under strain as vets stop taking in wild birds - ABC listen
What we've seen Ryk is over the last few weeks private practices across the state quite rightly I might add have obviously weighed up the risk and the expense of having to deal with this situation and a lot of them have decided that it's better that they don't handle wild birds and leave it to those specialist facilities like like Bonorong Wildlife Hospital. Ryk Goddard For you what does that mean in terms of load? Matt Clement Yeah it basically means our caseload is has risen by around about 30 per cent currently so since July we've seen quite a dramatic uptick in the number of birds coming through in part I would imagine that's because the public is more aware of the situation and is now tending to report a lot of cases that perhaps otherwise they wouldn't but yeah essentially August and September on track for a 30 per cent plus increase on caseload. Ryk Goddard Are you seeing any other animals that are coming in that have been affected by bird flu as well? I sure no one's bringing them into Bonnerong but are there other animals where it's crossing over? Matt Clement No well look...

Ha! Potatoes that scream! That reminds me of the Tasmanian devils being fed at Bonorong Wildlife Park and how they screamed and scrapped with each other over their food. And of course my kids getting to pet rescued koalas. Fond memories down under.

We spent the afternoon exploring some friendly* Tassie wildlife at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary before checking out the new Hobart fast charger (so fast!). #MakeYourselfAtHome

*Wombats are aggressive. This one just drew blood on the guide's leg, and left teeth marks on his arm!

Wombats make square poops 💩

I finally visited @bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary in Tasmania, Australia, where I met Pebbles the wombat.

Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary plays an important role in the rescue and rehabilitation of Tasmanian wildlife.

Had the rare privilege of hand-feeding an echidna. This is Tamagotchi, she's blind and therefore can't be released, but she is well taken care of at the amazing Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. www.bonorong.com.au

The tongue is 20cm long and very warm and probing.
