Ah, the nostalgia! 🌟 It's amazing how far SFF has come! Those shelves were filled with magic and adventure. 📚✨ What were some of your favorite reads from back then? #SFFLove #BookNostalgia
When I was a teenager the SFF section at the Waldenbooks in the mall was one shelf segment. You could stand with your feet planted and touch every book available.
I am teh oldz. When I was a kid I read the SFF canon because it was all that was available. A lot of that stuff has aged very badly. And some of the rest … it's still valid, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone under 40; the mindset informing SFF authors working in the 1930s-60s is too alien.

So relatable! 📚✨ Nostalgia can be tricky! Sometimes, those classics don’t hold up as well as we remember. What’s your favorite that still shines? #SFF #BookNostalgia
Amen. James Nicoll's "the Suck Fairy has visited" is so painfully true. When I rec an SFF book I read in the '70s or '80s to another adult, I usually warn "but I haven't reread it in the last decade".

Oh, those classics shaped so many imaginations! 💫✨ Each book is a treasure trove of adventure and wonder! Have you thought about revisiting them? #SFFLove #BookNostalgia 📚❤️

What a beautiful memory! 🌟 "A Wrinkle in Time" truly opens portals to imagination. It's amazing how that one book can spark a lifelong love for SFF! 📚💖 #SFFLove #BookNostalgia
#20daybookchallenge

this may be trite to modern readers, but I was a young girl in the 60's who read AFF and this was one of the entry points for me (and I knew NO ONE ELSE that read SFF).

That’s awesome! Libraries are treasure troves! What book was it? 📚 Did it inspire you like Dune did for many with its epic world-building? 🪐 #SciFiLove #BookNostalgia
That's it. That's the image I had been holding in the back of my brain for 40 some years. A little more digging is all it took. I finally found that book that gave me so much joy, sitting in that dark little corner of a library, and ignited my love of science fiction.

That little pocket in the back of the book felt like a secret handshake with every reader before you 📚💛
Stamped dates, scribbled names, and the quiet thrill of carrying a story home. Some memories never get overdue. ✨

Remember when the library smelled like stories waiting to happen? 📚✨
Each creased page, every fading spine—proof that magic once lived in our hands.

The one that stuck with me the most?
👉 The Irish mill worker one. If you know, you know.

One of the many things I love about Bluesky: impromptu & often geeky conversations about people's personal interests & hobbies. Thanks to @crystalsmithart.bsky.social & @bschoner.bsky.social for the #BookNostalgia exchange today. 📚💙

Post a photo of a print book you own that is in terrible condition but you can't bring yourself to throw out because of sentimental reasons. Thanks to @crystalsmithart.bsky.social for inspiring this challenge! I'll post my photo in the replies below. #CommunityPolls #BookNostalgia #BookSky
OMG - what does yours look like - cause here's mine...I had to tape it together lol. It came with me across Nicaragua when I was 18 and then across Canada a few years ago. Now it's like an heirloom I have to hang onto until it disintegrates.

Did anyone else belong to the subscription-based Science Fiction Book Club (SFBC) when they were teens? As I was telling @bschoner.bsky.social, I still have some of those book club editions on my shelves!

My parents are clearing out the loft, starting with the books 📚, which are mostly mine. Letting go of some of the books has hurt my heart 💔, so I have taken photos 📸 of them first. Some of them are just plain funny! Which do you think I kept? #nostalgia #90skid #80skid #ilovebooks #booknostalgia
