requiring verified boot (something all Windows versions, good Linux distros, and modern CPUs support) is absolutely and strictly unnecessary to detect or prevent cheating in video games, as it is simply just absurd and unreasonable to think that a cheater would ever go as far as to bootkit their own

#ESETresearch reveals the first Linux UEFI bootkit, Bootkitty. It disables kernel signature verification and preloads two ELFs unknown during our analysis. Also discovered, a possibly related unsigned LKM – both were uploaded to VT early this month. www.welivesecurity.com/en/eset-rese... 🧵
