I always felt we'd been cheated of closure on BOTP once I found out GATCHAMAN had a proper ending. And I'll always consider it a hatchet job of an anime.

I’ve always found the packaging for Urban Vision’s DVD of the Gatchaman OVAs fascinating, because they felt the need to specify that it was a DVD in the cover… but not the title of the anime! And this is the only cover, it’s not some artsy reverse one. Did they really think BotP was that universal?

No one's licensed the G-Force version, no. Tatsunoko got both it and BOTP when Sandy Frank's rights expired, but it appears BOTP is the more iconic one that Sentai keeps putting out for streaming (even if no home video release). Would love to see G-Force brought out too, someday.

When I shared this same thread on Threads, I got a response that highlights why this data is important to share. Some faster runners have never struggled with this sport or stuck around long enough after a race to see BOTP runners finish, so assume we aren’t real. It limits our sport’s potential.

Which is to say that while all this data is useful if people want to make an argument to skeptics about what the actual road racing community looks like, industry leaders can also learn a lot from listening to BOTP runners, disabled runners and older runners about their reality.

Without knowing any of this data, back when I was still coaching a few runners, I created a 12-week beginner plan in the Couch to 5K style that got you up to 44 minutes, based on my experience seeing people running at the BOTP and knowing it was needed. Not quite 50 minutes, but closer than 30.
