Brachychampsa was a shell-busting croc. While the teeth at the front of this 75-66 million-year-old croc’s jaw are pointed, those towards the back are bulbous and suited to cracking shelled prey like freshwater clams and small turtles. This skeleton’s based on Brachychampsa from southern Utah. 🧪

Happy #ToothyTuesday from this Brachychampsa shed tooth I just found! These Hell Creek gators had blunt crushing teeth compared to other late Cretaceous crocs.

Upper Hell Creek, South Dakota, 66 million years old.

Love them all, but the Denversaurus/Brachychampsa is wonderful! And I want to rescue Chasmataspis.

Brachiosuchus is an extinct crocodilian that I absolutely adore, but it also drives my dyslexic ass insane because there's also Brachysuchus and Brachychampsa, which I keep mixing it up with.

Here are some of the fossil finds from this year’s dig season: the crown jewel being a Tyrannosaurid tooth. Also shown are a Metasequoia cone, a fossil tendon, a crocodilian tooth, and some freshwater ray crushing teeth, plus some amber!

The first time I rode it and *everything* was working is still one of my favorite memories of the parks early days. The scene when you come around the corner and an Alioramus was *eating* a Brachychampsa was amazing. I was all like Disney made that? Wow!

That being said, I'm not sad to see it go.

Brachychampsa. Like a Cretaceous Grandpa’s Goody Getter, but more dangerous for your fingers.
