Det var ei stund eg fann mykje trøyst i å lesa om sauehald og gamle fjellgardar i Ryfylke. Ein favoritt var boka «Sau og hei : sauehald og heiaføring i Ryfylke og på Haugalandet» (Brandal & Tjeltveit 1996). Boka har eit flott utbrettkart over beiteområde for sauer frå Ryfylke og Nord-Rogaland.
