Junior Jahmal Dixon had a game- and career-high 25 points, while Connor Junker added 20 and Dorsett Mulcahy 18 to lead top-seed Gill St. Bernard's to an 84-73 victory over second-seed Rutgers Prep to claim its tenth Somerset County Tournament title, tying Bridgewater-Raritan's record for all-time tourney wins. The Bridgewater-Raritan boys' basketball team has held the record for most Somerset County titles for more than a quarter century, all by themselves. Their fourth title came in 1998, putting them ahead of Franklin, and then won six more through 2007. But as of Saturday afternoon, they have some company. Gill St. Bernard's won its 10th Somerset County Tournament championship Saturday at Montgomery Twp.

Being Coach of the Year isn't just about having the best team or the most skilled players. Well, you probably have to have most of them, or you're not playing for championships any time soon. But often, it's about something extra: overcoming some adversity, or simply making a key decision or two, more than the next guy. Sometimes, it's Xs and Os, sometimes it's something most don't see.

Phillipsburg's win in the North 2, Group 4 title game kept the Stateliners atop the Big Central Power Rankings in Week 11, while Bridgewater-Raritan's win in the North 2, Group 5 final moves them further up, and well into the Top 50 statewide. New Providence held in second, despite falling to Cedar Grove in the North 2, Group 1 final, while Old Bridge dropped from fourth to seventh after a loss in the Central Jersey Group 5 title tilt.

It was just one game, and it didn't exactly cause major upheaval in the Bellamy & Son Paving Week Four Big Central Top Ten, but it did move some teams around. Only four of the eleven teams in the Week Three rankings stayed in the same spot this week (there was a tenth place tie last week). Additionally, nobody dropped out.

As we get set for Week Four of action in high school football - and, hard to believe, approach the midway point of the season - it's time to talk about it all with Central Jersey Sports Radio analyst Marcus Borden! Mike and Marcus look back at the week gone by, including Sayreville's solid win over Hillsborough, Bridgewater-Raritan's win over Hunterdon Central - and Panther QB Declan Kurdyla's injury - as well as Franklin's offensive outburst in a tough home loss to St.

Week One - the second week of the season (don't get Mike started!) - is in the books, and offense reigned supreme, with many Big Central Conference teams putting up huge numbers, including a balanced attack at Voorhees, and Bridgewater-Raritan's game with Piscataway where both teams lit up the scoreboard. And there were first wins with new teams for Donald Jones at Plainfield and Gus Kalikas at AL Johnson, even though he'd already been the school's athletic director.
