Chelsea in pole position to sign £80m England star ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool
Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea are on the hunt for midfield reinforcements (Picture: Getty) Chelsea are reportedly leading a hotly contested transfer race to sign Bournemouth and England star Alex Scott. Scott arrived at Bournemouth from Bristol City back in 2023 and has gone on to establish himself as one of the most sought-after central midfielders in the Premier League over the last three years. The Guernsey-born 23-year-old received his first senior England call-up last November and was perhaps unfortunate to miss out on a place in Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad. However, Scott went on to make his senior international debut in the Three Lions’ Nations League clash with the Czech Republic on Thursday night, coming off the bench to replace Elliot Anderson in the 70th minute at Prague’s Fortuna Arena. ## Less football on the telly? According to The Telegraph, Chelsea have since jumped to the ‘front of the queue’ for Scott’s signature after seeing a £60million bid rejected by Bournemouth towards the end of the transfer window. It’s claimed the Blues will actively look to strengthen Xabi Alonso’s midfield options in January and next summer after failing with a last-ditch move for Monaco’s Lamine Camara last month. Scott has two years remaining on his current deal with Bournemouth (Picture: Hunt/ProSports/Shutterstock) The midfielder won his second England cap this weekend (Picture: Javier Garcia/Shutterstock) The report adds that Bournemouth’s insistence that Scott will not for sale in the winter has not dimmed Chelsea’s interest. Arsenal and Liverpool are also said to be keeping close tabs on Scott’s situation and would be expected to provide strong competition should Chelsea decide to step up their pursuit. Scott’s current contract on the south coast runs through to June 2028. Reports in the summer indicated that it would likely require a bid in excess of £80m to prise Scott away from the Vitality Stadium. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Up Next Previous Page Next Page After Scott’s outstanding performance against Croatia on Saturday, England head coach Tuchel labelled the Cherries man ‘the complete package’. ‘First start and what a start. What a performance,’ the German told reporters following England’s rampant 7-0 win. ‘He’s just so smooth at the moment on the ball, decision-making is on the highest level, he plays with so much confidence. He’s so active, so confident and the work-rate off the ball, he’s the complete package at the moment. Scott is also on the radar of both Arsenal and Liverpool (Picture: Getty) ‘He gave us today a lot of mobility, a lot of variety and a lot of work-rate in the centre of the pitch, together with Elliot Anderson.’ Manchester United legend Roy Keane was similarly impressed by Scott, waxing lyrical about the midfielder’s showing against the great Luka Modric in the middle of the park. ‘He’s done great. He looked really comfortable out there in his first start, he looked like he was an experienced midfielder out there,’ Keane said. ‘He looked comfortable with the players he was surrounded by. To come up against players like Modric, if he ends up having half the career of Modric then he’ll be doing really well. ‘A comfortable night for him and that’s the biggest compliment I can give him. He kept it simple, which is always a test for a player, didn’t complicate it and every time he got it he was in control of the situation.’ **For more stories like this, check our sport page**. **Follow Metro Sport for the latest news on**Facebook,** Twitter and Instagram**. Ah, that explains most of the UK. But I live in Bristol, which has been labelled the 'Crucicble Of Wokeness', which I obviously registered immediately, but those usual explanations do not have a willing audience here. crucibleofwokeness.com
We all are born with a certain package, we are who we are, where we were born, who we were born as how we were raised, we're kind of stuck inside that person and the purpose of civilization and growth is to be able to reach out and empathize a little bit with other people, find out what makes them tick, what they feel about, what they care about and for me the movies are like a machine that generates empathy. If it's a great movie it lets you understand a little bit more about what it's like to be, a different gender, a different race, a different age, a different economic class, a different nationality, different profession, different hopes, aspirations, dreams and fears, it helps us to identify with the people who are sharing this journey with us and that to me is the most noble thing that good movies can do and it's a reason to encourage them and to support them and to go to them.
