Just a half day's walk this pm after finishing our drive up, a lovely one to Angle Tarn from Hartsop. Breezy and showery later on but brilliant to be out on the fells 😊
Looking down to Brotherswater with fields bright green in the sfternoon sun and long shadows from the trees. From a path high on the fellside patches of sunlight catch green fields and bronze bracken on the valley sides. Angle Tarn sits blue in a fellside hollow, higher fells picked out in sunlight beyond under a blue sky with fluffy white and grey clouds. Sunlight illuminates bracken on the steep higher fellside above a small stone building.

Todays wander was an early start from Hartsop up Pasture Bottom and a steep climb up on to the top of Stoney Cove Pike and back by Caudale Moor, magnificent weather, walking and ending with a well earned swim.

Early start today tom avoid the heat up Pasture Bottom to go up Caudale Moor. However, too hot after climbing Threshtwaite cove and still another 700ft up. Stoney Cove pike so turned around and hit the river and Brotherswater for swimming.

Where are you based out of Ullswater area ? Eden Valley here, hence my preoccupation (means easy to get to) with the Eastern and Far Eastern Fells 😉 plus swimming in Hayeswater Gill/Brotherswater is hard to beat.

Parked up at Brotherswater at 7am. This was dumped in the car park, BBQ rotting food eg sausage, chicken etc. Foil disposable BBQ's x3, 2 boxes of beer (bottles everywhere). Now in boot. Car smells like a dustbin 😡

The southern end of Brotherswater, taken last week.
The southern end of Botherswater, a small lake in Cumbria, UK. Three bedraggled sit on the edge of the water, filling the frame. Behind the trees are green fields, and further back hills rise on the left, right and in the centre. There are stone walls in the fields and on the hills. The sky is mainly cloudy with patches of blue. The scene is mostly sunlit, but the hills have darker patches of shade.

Many birds in song at Low Wood above Brotherswater in the #LakeDistrict #UKBirding Willow Warblers, Blackcaps and Redstarts and at least 2 Pied Flycatchers and at least two Tree Pipits. At the water Dipper, Goosander, Mute Swans and Grey Heron eating the Mallard ducklings.
