@btrtdiscussions I have been educated by the neurodiversity movement as a #BrownGirlPsychiatrist and part of one of the first generations to fully embrace this concept along w/ other concepts such as "recovery movement" and "sex positive" self image that are new for prior gens.

reading @chantalvjohnson #posttraumatic (blurbed by @lesbrains btw) and it INSPIRES ME SO MUCH in my memoir writing. what happens when #BrownGirlPsychiatrist enters the spaces described, doesn't hide away (I was on the unit, face to face, up to 8 hrs/ d), is anti-restraint, etc.

#BrownGirlPsychiatrist PSA -- please be sensitive to survivors of sexual violence when you write and promote fiction about abuse as a non-survivor. Please don't just call such stories "disturbing" and "a fave." That's not what someone who lived through it wants to see as summary.

I felt obligated to post about actual violence/ killing of psychiatrists, because there are so many snarky, vaguely sarcastic and hostile posts about medicine and doctors on this app, I just wanted to remind people that we are human beings working to help. #BrownGirlPsychiatrist

fascinated as ever by writers' fascination with therapists. Read new story by Sigrid Nunez; enjoyed it, but at the same thought: Nope, she doesn't get what we do or how we think, at all. Not at all. But the fictional view of it is still really rich!
