Our stupid economic management model relies on a bufferstock of 100,000+ unemployed people. This model virtually guarantees that young people only get jobs when the economy is hot (or borders are closed). A universal free study / paid apprenticeship scheme is such an obvious move.

... Govt opened the borders to people willing to work for next to nothing in the hope of landing a visa, and RBNZ crushed the economy to increase the bufferstock of desperate kiwis. Govt are now stripping away workers' protections - to shift the dial further. Once you see it etc.
