Earlier this month, I created yet another _webthing_. Those who know me know I’m a bit crazy like that. All I’ll say ’bout it is each of my sites represents a little piece of my personality. I kinda live on the web and each site is kinda like a vacation home... ;) Please allow me to introduce to you jenett.neko, the newest member of what I think of as _the bulltown family_. It’s fun building new things. You’re sure to notice a similarity in style - it’s purely intentional. Yeah baby!

In a recent blog post at bulltown.neo, I linked to a _page.i.like_ on a site which, unknown to me at the time, also contained other toxic content aimed at the trans community. I’m ashamed to admit that I should have done a better job of vetting the site. After it was brought to my attention in the Neocities community, I read some of the content in question. As someone who has supported trans rights for decades, I was offended too! For what it’s worth, I fully understand the anger expressed. I’m sorry! To my many friends and followers lost in the community: I miss you guys and gals! I’m on your side and most importantly, I want you to know you're safe here. I do understand. — joe jenett

The big button walls on the links pages of 𝗯𝟮𝟮 and 𝗯.𝗻𝗲𝗼 are growing like crazy - there’s now over 1,200 linked buttons - yay! When I started bulltown, I decided to leave it up to each visitor whether to show animations - it’s off by default. The script I use has been taking about 6 seconds to process all those buttons. Something’s in place I hope will improve that. As always, your feedback is most welcome. Thanks.

Just finished a big link fixing project at the dailywebthing archives. When I created the site, there were over 8,900 posts, I’m pleased after all of the bad links fixed since then, there’s still 7,470 posts. That’s a whole lotta good links left to explore. Though I hate to borrow a word from a certain cable giant’s advertising arsenal, I gotta say bulltown is booming.The amount of time spent maintaining its two versions and interacting in Neocities’ community is substantial and worth every minute of it! I’m grateful for the experience. Not much else to report at the moment ’cept that the _webthings_ keep me busy (and out of trouble) and I’m down with that. 😎 Have a great weekend!

Recently, three different people told me bulltown feels ‘warm and cozy’ to them. That means so much to me. It feels so right. Our personal sites are where we live. If my house makes you feel comfortable and welcome and you have a good time, you can just color me grateful. I have several other homes on the web, all gratifying in different ways but this bulltown thing is where you might uncover my soul. You know… it’s like my permanent home address. Mi casa, su casa. Straight from the heart baby!

I tooted something a few days ago over at Mastodon: > been working on something new and different for the button wall - gonna take time but I'm stoked about it... So, here’s a bit more info on what’s going on. I had an idea a while back about adding new functionality to the button wall on the links page that I haven’t seen anywhere else. Though I’m not yet ready to divulge exactly what that functionality is, I will say it’s doable and I’m really excited to be working on it. And you can bet I’ll soon be telling you more. Thing is, in order to implement the idea on both versions of _bulltown_ in a way that allows efficient updates (I do a lot of that ya know), significant structural changes are necessary. I’ve been tinkering a bit with the CSS and have noticed some minor funkiness on mobile as I’m working on it so, as usual when I talk about such things, let me just say: Please pardon our dust! Hello friends. If you haven’t noticed, there’s a whole-lotta linking going on around here and I thought it would be useful to inform you as to what I’m doing - my linking policy if you will. I consider anyone who follows bulltown at Neocities to be part of my neighborhood and include their sites in the ‘neocities neighbors’ button walls found on the main pages of both versions of bulltown. Needless to say, I’d love you to include bulltown in your site’s neighborhood. If you do, you’ll also be added to the ’mutuals’ sections of both versions of bulltown. Added three more of my older fave photos to _img.select_. There’s something I’ve been meaning to say about the bulltown button walls. Links are my life - I’ve been curating them forever. Though you won’t find a blogroll here, the _mutuals_ and _followers_ sections are full of sites I really like visiting - there’s some really cool creatives behind them. I joined Neocities last September and for me, it’s become quite the discovery engine! I’m spread a bit thin among my various sites but I’ve got to tell you - the time I’ve spent hangin’ around the Neocities community has been the most fulfilling. Thank you all!

I’ve gotta tell ya - getting everything to render nicely on mobile has been an ongoing challenge. Just yesterday, I discovered the background for the button wall on the 𝗯.𝗻𝗲𝗼 homepage had somehow disappeared probably due to some loose nut behind the wheel accidentally deleting some CSS. In the process of fixing that, I noticed a few remaining issues on how the page rendered on some mobile screen sizes. That’s all resolved (for) now. Whew! Speaking of mobile, I turned to the music page at 𝗯𝟮𝟮 this morning and it needs work, particularly on smaller screens.
