A view of the back of a wooden carving - one of two welcome poles overlooking Burgoyne Bay on Salt Spring Island BC - with mountains in the background and what might be Scottish thistles in the foreground. The sky is hazy with lingering white clouds.

This image shows two different carved wooden sculptures in what appears to be traditional dress with hats, taken from behind - one on the left, the on the right, together they frame the calm waterway of the Salish Sea. A steep hill on the left is blanketed by trees, and there are distant hills with more fir trees on the horizon under a grey/white cloudy sky. There are what looks to be Scottish thistles framing the bottom right hand side of the picture, slightly out of focus for artistic effect. The scene is located in Burgoyne Bay Provincial Park on Salt Spring Island in British Columbia, Canada. These carvings appear consistent with Coast Salish artistic traditions found in the region.
