A key section of the A361 at Burrowbridge will now be closed to all traffic for at least a month - sparking a lengthy diversion route

The A361 through Burrowbridge was originally going to be closed for the entire summer holidays - but Somerset Council has had a change of heart

A key road over the Somerset Levels will be shut for the entirety of the summer holidays to allow traffic lights to be replaced.

More than £770,000 will be spent over the next 12 months on dredging to protect Somerset homes, businesses and key transport links from flooding

Back to normal at A361 East Lyng to Burrowbridge (Somerset) The Flood Warning has now been removed. However, a Flood Alert remains in force for the wider area, so flooding of roads and low lying land is still possible.  Further rainfall is forecast but no further flooding is expected.   We will continue to monitor the situation and will issue further alerts or warnings if necessary.   Continue to take care on waterside roads and footpaths and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger. Never drive through flood water, just 30cm of fast flowing water is enough to move your car.
